Last week I tired and tried to get all the kids to commit to a shoot date...they did not call back until (last) Saturday, by then I could not get the adult lead for the following Sundays shoot.
Should I shoot or should I wait?
If I would wait much longer I would lose one of my young principles for the winter!
So we shot what we could. This weekend we were shoot the pick up shots, the ones we missed from last Sunday.
Since then it snowed....but not a lot, by noon today, the snow was gone. But more snow is way this Sunday with even colder temps promising.
With zero notice we were able to get both adult and child actors to show up for the pick up shots today, instead of Sunday.
In 2 hours we were able to shoot 7 set ups. 4 with sound and three MOS. And 3 lighting changes (fill light) adjustments.
We shot 2-2/3 rolls of K-40 ....that may sound like a lot of film, but it was windy and with lots of car traffic.
We did all the scenes with K-40 with the 85 filter in place. Used some fill with a 1K Zip light with a 1/2 CTB to cool off the afternoon sunset . Just guessing on the color temp todays daylight is probably about 6000 K.At least todays lighting will mach last Sundays look! ( ASA 25 24 FPS. reading ranging from F-2.8 to 2.0.5)
Even thought it was simple I'm glade I used story boards or we would have spent more time standing in the cold!
Now I hope the lab does not botch thinks up.

Sometimes the shoots that are planned days ahead allow for extra time for someone to think of a reason to not show.
The ones planned quickly sometimes (as you have demonstrated) go just as smoothly. Why is that?
